2021 MLB Draft Guide

2021 MLB Draft

The 2021 MLB draft begins on July 11. It will consist of 20 rounds this year, marking the second straight shortened draft. MLB limited last year’s draft to five rounds instead of the typical 40 rounds due to the pandemic.

This year’s draft class hasn’t panned out like scouts and talent evaluators initially anticipated. The crop of college hitters is not as strong as most expected when the season started due to numerous players underperforming.

It will be an intriguing draft to watch. Stay tuned to the Baseball Prospect Journal for all the latest draft coverage.

The Baseball Prospect Journal features some of the most in-depth 2021 MLB draft coverage available. MLB draft writer Dan Zielinski III has interviewed and written in-depth profiles on 103 of this year’s top draft prospects. You also can find mock drafts, articles on the latest news, commentary and podcasts available at Baseball Prospect Journal.
