The 2021 MLB draft begins on July 11. It will consist of 20 rounds this year, marking the second straight shortened draft. MLB limited last year’s draft to five rounds instead of the typical 40 rounds due to the pandemic.
This year’s draft class hasn’t panned out like scouts and talent evaluators initially anticipated. The crop of college hitters is not as strong as most expected when the season started due to numerous players underperforming.
It will be an intriguing draft to watch. Stay tuned to the Baseball Prospect Journal for all the latest draft coverage.
