Logan Quinton’s 2024 MLB Draft Prospect Board

The 2024 MLB draft begins on Sunday. With my MLB Mock Draft now posted before Sunday’s event, here is a look at my Top 40 (plus-one) Prospect Board.

For now, the top two players in the 2024 MLB draft go chalk in the mock. The two college pitchers are paired together in the top-10. There’s not a significant degree of separation between the college hitters after the first 10 players. Two more college pitchers are close together and a pair of outfielders with question marks begin the bottom half of the board.

After prep left-handed pitcher Cam Caminiti, I’ve got prep right-hander William Schmidt as the top high school prospect. He will be hard to turn down for suitors in the mid-round slots. There’s a ton of parity after Caminiti, and Schmidt has tremendous upside with his frame. Schmidt offers an above-average fastball and an excellent curveball.

This board isn’t extremely high on the college catchers. Malcom Moore has the edge here over Walker Janek. Both backstops are likely to go in the first round. So is California’s Caleb Lomavita. The number of catchers taken in the first round will be interesting to monitor. Considering the complexion of the first 39 slots, Lomavita could be a massive under-slot for a team looking to push money down the draft. This board also implies Kaelen Culpepper being an under-slot darling based on the latest mock.
